I am also going to steal Snoozers layout because it is very pretty.
I am reveiwing this game on the Gamecube Version, just so anyone who wants to Buy it on the Wii has the general idea how the game is.
• Graphics
• Sound
• Gameplay
• Extras
:GRAPHICS:
As throughout the Resident Evil series, Graphics have steadily increased in quality, and considering it was a late Gamecube game, the graphics are pretty damn good. From the variations in ripped clothing on the Villiagers, to the swaying of movement on El Gigante's loincloth. It's the simple things that most people notice, and i think they covered everything, The way feathers fall off the chickens as they run away, or how the trees sway in the wind, It makes the gameplay so much worthwhile.
The graphics are very constant through out the game too. As you progress, the enviroment changes from old age castles to ramshackled villigaes that have Fires crackling outside. The violence on the game itself is just right too, although you would expect more blood from a gunshot to the chest, it is saved by the fact that when a virus bursts out of someones Bodiless neck Blood goes in all different directions.
The graphics are Good to Brilliant they genually add to the spookiness of the game, and i personally don't think it would be the same if it was any different.
:SOUND:
The sound effects in the game are immense. There is no better sound to the ear, like as your walking into a new section and your spotted by someone. The chilling yells of "Lord Saddler" or "Los valos" run down your spine and spook you out even more.
But It's not just the charecter to character quality that is impressive. The fact that as you run through the enviroment, your footsteps change, they get louder or quieter depending on what you walk on.
Although they could be much more intense on a surround sound system to give you that feeling of "All overness" The sound to this game is fantastic.
:GAMEPLAY:
Standard Resident Evil Controls apply here, R trigger to aim your gun and A to shoot, it's ever so simple but ever so fun to get used too. They have added a new factor where holding down the Left Trigger, makes you draw your knife to the enimies, which is a lot easier than Trapsing into the menu and equipping the F^&*%r.
During the game, you are prompted to do many things by pressing different buttons on your game controller, Things like Jumping through a glass window simply by pressing A when prompted gives the game a Free flowing simplicity to it and makes it so much fun to play.
The A.I get stronger and smarter through out the game. From Bumbuling villiagers infected with Las Plagas to The very scary Dr. Salavador who's revving chainsaw can be heard from distance, but he can cut your head clean from your shoulders in one blow. As you progress into the game, the A.I change according to their enviroment. For example when you first step into the villiage you face ordinary working class villiagers, but as you progress through out the game to the Castle, you start to fight people who can be called nothing less than "Monks" equipped with crossbows and maces.
The "Boss" battles in the game are all different depending on whom you are fighting, certain things must be figured out by the character to kill certain enemis, this gives an added feeling of stratergy to the game as well as the feeling or urgency in not wanted to be torn apart.
:EXTRAS:
I would be lying if i said there were no extras worth playing on this game, The game is crammed full of them, from unlocking a completeley second story mode with the Sexy Angent in red "Ada Wong" To unlocking a Merceneries mini-game were the player can continue to unlock all time classic players such as "Wesker" and the fourth survivor "Hunk".
The fact that you can read over logs and diaries found in the game and try to piece together the mystery yourself adds a certain Authenticity to the game.
OVERALL
:GRAPHICS: 10/10 : I am certain that these graphics are picture perfect for the console it was released on, they are very impressive.
:SOUND: 8/10 (9/10 If you have surround) : The sound is very impressive but it lacks "UMPH" It needs to be more in yuor face and creepy to score higher.
:GAMEPLAY: 10/10 : The gameplay in this game is Over satisfying to say the least, it is very impressive and is defientley one of the best games i have layed my hands on for a while.
:EXTRAS: 9/10 : The extras for the game are awesome, you get to do some of the things you have never got to do before, but you have always wanted to.
:OVERALL: 10/10 : Defientley worth picking up when you see it, only about £14 now a days and it's a steal at that price.
Thanks for reading.
