Counter-Strike Beta 5 has been released to the public. You can download the
update from Beta 4 or 4.1 here

full Beta 5 installer is available here,

Linux server operators can download the full Beta 5 Linux server from here

We hope everyone enjoys playing the new version as much as we have working
on it. It has been a pleasure working with the Counter-Strike team and
Barking Dog Software, and I think everyone will appreciate their efforts.

New features list:
- 1 new weapon: The fully automatic shotgun.
- 3 new maps: Back Alley, Train and Iraq, plus updates to existing maps.
- 3 new observer modes: Classic ghost, locked chasecam, and freelook
chasecam.
- A variety of new HUD icons, including money display and icons for Buy Zone
and Hostage Rescue Zone
- Auto-find teammate in observer mode.
- Improved hostage AI.

The only drawback from this is that by the time you do acutally geteth to play the 5th coming of the beta of counterstrike, everyone else will have had days of practise and you will get trounced upon.

OMFG!
I just played it. It is friggin awesome. Aww man you gotta play it. Get i NOW. Theres a new CT class called UK SAS which I thought was cool (1989 Iranian(?) Embassay style dress) The new shotgun is brilliant, theres new style HUD that just rox and a nice new red font that looks very cool. New hostages (the one in the orange jumpsuit looks like Roose so I fragged him out of habit 8P). I played on one of the new maps called backalley and it looked really good, and they have alarms and cool dog sounds. Its a BIG improvement and looks ALOT more proffesional.

I've been saying to Rash since CS first came out, that when you died, you should have a Rocket Arena stylee chase cam to follow yer team m8s or the other team around, AS WELL AS ghost cam.. the ghost cam by itself is rather sucky and annoying for following people..

I also was surprised when CS first came out about everyone telling each other people were when they died, being used to that being a massive no-no in RA..

Played it for 3 hours now. I just wrote a big paragraph describin it but now i decided it'd be cooler for you to see it urself. When ur in tho, have a test with all of the weapons cos there was a bit of speculation goin on about them being changed, I personally reckon the mp5 got more accurate. Oh and they ruined the Fn90. Its makes a gay noise. Like someone hitting a beanz tin when they're firin it. Damn I'm ruining it.

Just as soon I can get another version of paint sho pro on my system I'll stick up a few screenies of my own.... for example me, in the only populated WP beta 5 server, within hours of it being released, leading the entire server in terms of kills etc etc etc. This is against a team made up nearly entirely of 1 clan. So it was me and a few other versus an entire clan. Kiss it.
And lemme remind you that as shown by the fact that scores are hidden, CS is a team game, and team tactics are as important. Maybe thats just me tho. I do seem to rack up a lot of kills tho, wouldn't mind seenin some of Rooses selective screenies of the time he managed to snipe me while I was fightin wit someone else. Oooh I'm so *****y.
<Sarcasm> As for Crispy. Well, no-one can come close to the skills Crispy has, after all he is the one. </Sarcasm>
