We planned going to go and find a beach along the Gulf coast which a family had told us about (who we met in the Keys) and go snorkelling. We found the place, it was called Engelwood Beach. Today was a lazy day. We planned going to go and find a beach along the Gulf coast which a family had told us about (who we met in the Keys) and go snorkelling. We found the place, it was called Engelwood Beach.
It took around 3 hours to drive to here, but it was worth it.
There were loads and loads of shells on the beach, which the kids collected some, then they went in to the sea snorkelling looking for sea shells in the sea, they not only found loads, but found some really nice ones, we will upload some pictures later this week of them.
There was only about 10-15 feet of beach before the sea, so I decided to get into the Ocean which would do me the world of good.
It probably looked a bit strange someone walking in to the sea with crutches, but I couldn’t miss up this opportunity as I haven’t been able to go in to the sea for about 7 years now.
It was so refreshing from English sea and it was nice when you got out of the water it wasn’t actually cold! After what seemed like half an hour but was really around 2 hours, we started to head off back to the apartment. On the way back the heavy rain started, so it was good job we didn’t do any of the Disney today, as it had been raining around that area.
Because of this we had to change our plans on going out for dinner, and ended up eating in tonight.

Today we went to Magic Kingdom. Linda and the kids firstly went on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, which was apparently rubbish and wasn’t as good as the one in Paris Disneyland either. When we went into Frontierland I decided to avoid Splash Mountain (which is a log flume ride) and Big Thunder Mountain (a Wild West – very – bumpy roller coaster) to save myself for other things. And it seemed I made the right decision because it turned out that Splash Mountain was not as good compared to Ripsaw Falls (which is a log flume with a massive drop in Universal Studios) and Big Thunder Mountain wasn’t as good anymore because of all the other really scary roller coasters we have been going on recently. It seems Disney is loosing its touch. After lunch we went to go on Space Mountain, and guess what? It wasn’t even open! Apparently it’s closed until winter for refurbishment. So we then decided to go and the Monsters Inc. show and head off to Disney Studios to see the night show Fantasmic.

We were told by a member of Epcot staff, the day we went to Epcot, that we could enter multiple parks in one day and to think of the remaining ‘days’ we had at the parks as remaining ‘trips’. But the lady was wrong, as we found out the hard way. We spoke to the manger of Guest Relations and after some major debating and tears (Luke was upset because there was a possibility that we couldn’t go and watch this show after we promised him that we would), they finally let us in.

Had to wait long time to get seated but it was a very good show, with loads of Disney characters, loads of light and projector on a spray of water. Whilst we were coming out of the venue we were passing the Tower of Terror, so Luke and Linda went on that. After a long day, we returned to the apartment and had and went straight to bed because we were knackered from a long day. ]]> Rasher http://forums.gameon.co.uk/blog.php?b=140 Day 18: Our Holiday - Even More Star Wars today http://forums.gameon.co.uk/blog.php?b=139 Tue, 28 Jul 2009 16:16:34 GMT Today was the day that both Luke and I have been looking forward to all holiday - Disney Hollywood Studios - and even more Star Wars.

When we arrived at the park, we headed straight for the Star Wars area. We discovered that there was a new thing, a little show involving Jedi's, Darth Vader, a couple of storm troopers and 12 kids training to be Jedi's. We got there just as one show was finishing, and of course Luke wanted to try and have a go. So we had to wait 40 minutes to make sure we had a front row position to try and get him picked.

As it started. and they got to the picking kids bit, Luke was doing his best jumping up and down and waving his arms. Fortunately he got chosen (don't know what we would have done if he hadn't -probably had to wait for the next one and try again) Anyway, they got given a Jedi cloak and a light saber, and were taught some moves. Then Darth Vader appeared and they each got to fight him. Luke had a huge grin on his face by the end.

After the show, Linda and the kids went on the Star Wars ride, and then it was the much anticipated visit to Tatooine Traders - the Star Wars shop.....
What can i say about this shop, if you are a Star Wars fan, this shop just rocks.
We brought a mix of things from it, a mug for me, speeder bikes for Luke and some books and a helmet...

After having spent about 3 hours in just that area we thought we had better do a bit more of the park. We saw a Muppet 3D show (a bit naff really), went on a great Toy Story shooting ride, then the 2 big rides, Rock and Roll Roller coaster and Tower of Terror. Jess still hated Tower of Terror - but I am going to keep making her go on it until she overcomes it.

Finished at the park at about 6.30, went back to the apartment for a short rest before going out to dinner (I had promised Linda a meal out tonight)

Well, fortunately we had already decided to have a lazy day today, because after a bit of a lie in, we got up to grey Sky's. It was not long before the thunder, lightening and rain started. And it rained, and rained, and rained.

After lunch, it seemed to ease off a bit, so we ventured out with the intention of going to the Downtown Disney area. Unfortunately, by the time we got there the heavens had opened again and it was absolutely pouring with rain again.

After about half an hour sitting in the car, it eased off a bit so we ventured out. The highlight has got to be the Lego shop.

We 1st spotted some LEGO Star Wars figures on key rings, after picking up a bunch of them, realised it was going to come to over $100
So i suggested to Luke, maybe we should spend $100 on some Star Wars LEGO toy to build.
We headed over to the display and spotted a LEGO Millenium Falcon on display in there, so i went to have a look, then, it hit me.
Above it was... a LEGO, Death Star
Seriously, its outstanding, but not cheap.
So looking at sharing the costs with Luke,
But Luke and i are still in talks with Linda about this one....
We are going to wait till we go to the Disney Star Wars shop tomorrow, as that store normally has some outstanding items in it.

Will keep you posted with what happens with that.

So all in all, a very nice and relaxing day with a film at the end of it.

Feeling quite a lot better today. After yesterday's trip to Animal Kingdom got cut short, we went back today to finish it off.

Today was mostly concentrated on the rides there, so was mostly spent waiting around for me as I did not want to risk making myself worse again. They all went on Dinosaur - a roller coaster ride set around dinosaurs (surprise surprise) then the kids when on Primal Whirl, a more kiddy based roller coaster ride.

They all went on Expedition Everest, another roller coaster type ride, and then they did manage to drag me on to the Kali River Rapids ride. This was yet another wet soaking wet water ride. You can only really get away with these rides in Florida. It is actually quite pleasant to get soaked to the skin from time to time! And you dry off again very quickly.

After finishing off in Animal Kingdom, we went off to find a CiCi's Pizza place to fill our faces with pizza again :u01 (all you can eat)
this time we got discount, $20 for all 4 of us to eat all we want and drink all we want (soft drinks), shame Jess and i wasn't feeling like eating much.

After eating we paid a trip to a flea market then headed back to the apartment.

While the girls went on a girly shopping trip, us boys got the AT-TE out of it's box and played Star Wars.
ohh and i did a lot of catching up with proof reads and emails :)

So, it was up nice and early this morning to drive 30 miles to another Toys R Us, north of Orlando, to see if they had an AT-TE in stock still. Fortunately, when we got there there were plenty there, so Luke was a very happy boy :) Next we went to Disney Animal Kingdom. We... Friday 24th July.

Next we went to Disney Animal Kingdom. We started off concentrating on the Animal stuff, a Safari ride where we saw giraffes, elephants, lion, rhinos and hippos to name a few. Then a walk around a trail where we could see gorillas, tropical birds and other things.

It was a very hot day, and I started to feel really unwell. I tried to fight it, as we watched the parade. But as I was feeling even worse by then we had to call it a day and go back to the apartment. I had a rest with Jess, while Linda took Luke down to the pool.

We had a relaxing evening, with dinner on the complex and a DVD. We did take a trip out to Toys r Us, after Linda gave in and agreeing to get Luke the AT-TE, only to find that the one in Orlando had none in stock. They did tell us of a store about 30 miles north that had some, but it was too late to go tonight.
So looks like an hour drive in the morning looking for Toys R Us.

So it was a DVD , then bed.
