10 X-Rays later
As some of you may recall, Luke (Smiles) broke his arm about 3 years back
Rather than me explaining what happened, here is the old posts.
Broken his arm
Operation needed
Basically we went for a check up, to see how the operation had gone.
I will explain the best i can (sure Linda can correct anything)
Due to the room we was using at the hospital being really small, by the time my wheelchair was in there, all the doctors and consultants had to stand behind me, which meant i couldn't see/hear everything going on.
Took them 10 X-Rays to get every angle they required (i swear he was glowing when he came out)
It seems that the bone he originally fractured has now stopped growing at one end.
This has caused the other bone in his arm to grow longer and be pushed out of place which will eventually stop the movement in his wrist and cause a deformity in his wrist / hand.
To fix this they are going to fix a screw in to the bone that is still growing, so it stops it growing, and allowing both bones in his arm to stay around the same length.
This may mean he has a deformity of one arm being shorter than the other arm, but we wont know any more till about 6 months after the operation now.
They have rushed the operation forward and he goes in tomorrow daytime
good news is, he should be out tomorrow night and back home.
Have posted a photo of where his bone is sticking out at his wrist because the other bone has stopped growing.
Will post an update when hes out of hospital tomorrow.

Re: 10 X-Rays later
A very good friend of mine has a similar problem in both arms as a result of an illness. He still manages to live a perfectly normal life, and he's also rather attractive (no homo).
Let Smiles know it isn't all over
Hope everything works out.

Hope everything goes well, I know Lukes a fighter
Unfortunately (as I know only too well) although the body is a wonderful machine it has a mind (!) of its own, and the docs have to work within those limits. Most of you will know I have probs with my legs but less noticeable is my borked shoulder, right arm is a good 6 inches shorter than my left and has considerable limits in vertical movement (cant lift it much pass shoulder height) But it hasnt stopped me doing pretty much anything. So I'm sure whatever the outcome Luke will be fine.

Re: 10 X-Rays later
Eeek, thanks for the update Rash, we will keep our fingers crossed for the little fella.
Good luck Luke!!!!
If you want my opinion, I think you are trying to create a cybernetic game champion of tomorrow! Soon, you will telling us the doctors need to implant computer chips and stuff into his arms to increase the reaction times to his mouse hand!!...... Stop now, I beg you!!

Re: 10 X-Rays later
Sorry to hear about this. Will be thinking about Smiles over the coming days. Take it easy and keep rested.
Let us know how eveything goes and I'm sure he'll be back beating everyone on TF2 soon enough.

Re: 10 X-Rays later
Hi everyone
Luke got back home around 5.30pm yesterday afternoon,
i been a bit too busy to post since then.
Operation seems to have gone ok,
they have popped a screw in to his wrist and seems they injected him with some dye in to his arm further up so they could take a better look at his elbow with x-rays
But we haven't had the results on that bit yet.
He was still in a lot of pain last night, so he just watched me play some games to help him chill out (simple ones)
he was hoping to be able to play some games today, but it doesn't look like he will be able to just yet.
I have some games ready which he will only require a mouse (so only one hand)
