The creative director of Microsoft Game Studios Peter Molyneux has stated that the publisher’s forthcoming Xbox 360 RPG Fable III needs to sell 5m copies to justify significant UI and gameplay changes.
Fable III has completely ditched the traditional HUD and simplify the controls as much as possible, with combat now handled with a single button. The first Fable on the original Xbox sold 3m copies, with the Xbox 360 sequel shifting 3.5m units. A significant improvement on these numbers is needed to justify extreme design decisions. I don't own an Xbox360 but have played Fable & Fable ll and thought it was totally awesome, I hope the changes that have been made are not to major. Will Fable lll hit the 5m sales what do you think? One button combat is just a joke.

Re: Fable lll needs to hit 5m sales !
Single button was how it worked in Fable II, wasn't it? One button for melee, one for magic and one for ranged. I didn't think it could get more simple than that.
I'm not a fan of Fable II, although I love the first one, so I'll wait and see before I laugh at Molyneux's rubbish like always.

Re: Fable lll needs to hit 5m sales !
that is a lot of copies of a game they have to sell
This sort of thing is going to put so much pressure on developer's and publishers having a target rather than just being happy with sales, well a BIG target. But the way the game industry has been going it has been heading for this, just like the film industry has been Is it a bad thing? well the only thing that worries me is the small Indy companies wont stand a chance with bringing out a new game. |
